I’m living testament to the healing power of Qi. As fate would have it I inadvertently become my first patient.
One morning, thirteen years ago, I awoke in excruciating pain. Unable to breathe normally or turn my head and intense pins and needles running down my arm. I thought I was having a heart attack. As it turned out a 71/2 mm herniated disk was the culprit. The disk pinched a nerve, paralyzing the tricep muscle in my arm. Pins and needles were constantly running down my arm and I could not keep still due to the pain. I couldn't even lift a glass of water. Worst of all this literally seemed to happen overnight. I went to bed normal and woke up at 3am unable to move.
An MRI confirmed the issue and I was diagnosed with an atrophied a tricep. Spinal fusion was recommended.
This surgery involved an incision to the front of the throat area, moving the trachea out of the way, removing the herniated disk and fusing the spine together. Resulting in limiting the range of motion in my neck for the rest of my life! No longer would I be able to put my chin on my chest, or be active in the same way. Not an option I was willing to consider even though the pain was off the charts.
The surgeon calmly assured me this procedure was very common and had been done for 20 years. And although it wouldn’t guarantee the pain wouldn't return, or move to another location, it was the best option they had to offer me. Horrified. I blurted out: “Well, clearly it’s time for a change! What caused this?" as I tried to conceal my horror. He had no answer.
I didn't know what that change was either, but I knew there had to be something better than spinal fusion. There had to be a reason this happened. And there had to be another way to heal my body.
Thankfully, I was studying Qigong at the time. I was familiar with many remarkable cases of healing however, when stabbing pain grips you by the neck, the idea of healing with energy seemed daunting even to me. As surgery was not an option I was willing to consider, I had no choice but to put Qigong methods into practice. If ultimately I was to be a healer, then in the very least I had to be able to heal myself.
I applied Qigong methods daily and one morning I woke up pain free like it never happened.
That was over thirteen years ago and the pain has never returned.
